Why The Vineyard Community?
Ashdown chose the Vineyard Community crisis centre as their chosen charity to support during 2023, and have been so affected by the great work carried out by the charity that we have continued to support them throughout Christmas and into 2024.
The Vineyard Community Centre provides crisis, food poverty, social inclusion and support services to those in need, helping individuals overcome personal crises and reconnect with society. They have extensive experience resolving issues related to homelessness, addiction, loneliness and mental health.
The crisis support centre is a place of refuge where volunteers provide food, daytime shelter, clothing, shower facilities and use of postal and internet services. They also host a range of support agencies who offer advice on housing, benefits and health issues.
The Ashdown team spent two days volunteering at the Vineyard Community centre in 2023, cooking and serving food in the drop-in centre, sorting and packing foodbank donations and helping in the on-site charity shop.
As well as helping out at the centre Ashdown have set up a Foodbank at their head office, with neighbouring businesses also donating essential items. Ashdown has pledged to double the monthly donations made by the team.
