Supporting Charities
Over twenty years of fundraising
Ashdown has a long history of supporting charities, raising tens of thousands of pounds for some great causes. Our charity work spans over 23 years and encapsulates who we are as a team. We hold regular events to support charities with whom our team have a connection and try to support smaller charities who really benefit from extra funds. We also allow every member of the Ashdown team one day a year special leave for volunteering in the local community.
Running dozens of charity events over the years, we've highlighted a few of our regular events below.
Volunteering Days
The Ashdown team were privileged to spend a day volunteering at the Vineyard Community Centre in Richmond, helping at the drop-in cafe, food bank, charity shop and sorting donations generously collected by local schools.
In line with our corporate social responsibility we allocate two days volunteering a year, and this year we spent one of those days at this very worthwhile crisis centre.
Christmas Donations
The Ashdown team chose four charities to fundraise for over Christmas in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Each charity meant something to members of the team, and both years we reached our target of £1000 over the festive season, with ongoing fundraising throughout the year.
Christmas Jumper day
Another seasonal tradition at Ashdown, the Christmas jumper day, a friendly competition to see who will wear the most outlandish festive pullover. All in aid of our selected charity. This event tends to kick off the season of festivities in the run up to the big day.
Dragon Boat Race
The Ashdown team took to the water in 2016 and entered into the Kingston upon Thames Dragon Boat race, raising £1500 for the testicular cancer charity, Checkemlads
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Every year we hold a Macmillan coffee morning, inviting local businesses to join us in raising funds for this worthy cause.
Of course, we get to enjoy eating a huge range of cakes on the day and over the years this has become a bit of a company wide 'bake off' - great fun for a great cause.
Brain Tumour Research
A charity very close to our hearts, we raised £200 for the Brain Tumour Research charity by holding a Halloween fancy dress party for staff members and their children.
The Amber Trust
The Amber Trust was formed to help blind and partially sighted children who have a talent or a love for music.
Having supported one of our team, Ashdown really got behind this great little charity running our version of 'The Apprentice', raising £2500.
Momentum, Company rounders day
In September 2019 the Ashdown team got sporty, holding a charity rounders match. We raised £1000 for Momentum, a charity that provides support for families whose children are living with cancer or a life challenging condition.
Three Peaks Challenge
One of our toughest challenges to date, the Ashdown team trained hard (ish) to complete the infamous 'three peaks challenge', raising a staggering £11,000 for Breast Cancer Care.
