The total number of UK job vacancies has declined by 43% since the peak of June 2022, with a sharper downturn recorded in Q2 2025. Despite this contraction, accounting roles, particularly at mid and senior levels, remain more resilient than many other professions.
- Entry-level accountancy job advertisements have dropped by 32% since late 2022, reflecting the impact of automation, offshoring, and cost control measures. This decline is slower than the wider job market across all professions. However, the recruitment market for entry level roles shows fierce competition for a lower volume of finance vacancies
