Jobs Index Results for June 2011:
The Ashdown Group Jobs Index which tracks the number of Accountancy, Marketing, HR and IT Jobs in the UK has risen by 5.82% during June.
Summary – A Blazing June for Jobs.
Following a good month in May, demand for IT staff continued in an upward direction with a huge 9.32% increase in the number of IT jobs being advertised in June.
A 3.52% increase in demand for Accountancy personnel in June, cancelled out the drop seen in the sector during May.
Demand for Human Resources staff remained fairly flat during June with a small drop of 0.16%
After a small jump in demand for marketing staff seen in May, the number of vacancies being advertised in June remained fairly static with a small increase of 0.76% against May’s figures.
Short-term and medium range forecast from John Lynes, Director of the Ashdown Group:
'I am delighted to see another month of strong demand within our sectors. Demand for IT staff has risen to its highest point since the recession, similarly demand for HR, Marketing and Accountancy staff is also robust with each sector operating close to their highest levels seen since 2008.
'We often see a seasonal drop in demand through the months of July and August. This is easily explained as a large proportion of decision makers take their annual vacation. It will be interesting to see to what extent demand falls in the coming months and to what level they recover in September to get a longer term view of demand.'
