Job Description

Ideally Python although Java, C#, Javascript (Node JS) or PHP will be considered (basically someone with an excellent backend programming background who can grasp Python). Other technologies include AngularJS, MySQL, Mongo DB, SOLR/Elastic Search, Git, AWS.

An international online start up (backed by a large and established parent company listed on the NYSE) are looking for a Software Engineer to join their full stack development team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an entrepreneurial, fast paced, technology focussed business at a time of significant growth. This is a small but collaborative team environment that disrupts the “norm” and looks at different ways of doing things outside the box.

As their Software Engineer you will write well designed, testable code across the entire stack. You will work across the full SDLC and troubleshoot and debug existing software. This role will offer a real opportunity to contribute to evolving the existing product by studying business needs and engaging with senior stakeholders.

To be suitable, you will have a strong software development background and the following relevant experience:

Backend programming; preferably Python but Java, PHP or C# will be considered
Appreciation of UI
Architecting, Writing Tests, Bug Fixing, User Stories etc
Experience with any major Javascript framework; React, Angular JS/Angular 2, Backbone
Understanding of search or database technologies; MySQL, Mongo DB, ETL

The ideal candidate will have a Computer Science or technology based degree coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively in a Scrum team. You will have a brilliant understanding of software architecture and design and will thrive in a busy and fast paced environment.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an established business that will allow you the opportunity to learn and acquire new skills in frameworks and technologies including AWS.

The salary on offer for this role is circa £60,000 plus benefits – there may be some flexibility for an outstanding candidate. Additional benefits include discretionary bonus, great company pension scheme, 25 days holiday, private healthcare etc.

This business prides itself on its people focused nature and offers a dynamic and social environment. Their impressive offices are based near to Old Street and they operate a casual environment in terms of dress code. It is a very social environment with many company funded events and weekly team socials.
