An International Software House with an enviable reputation is looking for a Support Engineer to join their UK Head Office. The role will provide support to customers for a number of systems and products including business critical applications.

Full training will be provided on the products and you will record, troubleshoot - and where necessary escalate - any problems or issues with the applications in line with agreed SLA's.

Excellent customer service and communication skills are required for this role.

This is a new position that has come about due to continued growth and the successful candidate will provide remote support for customers in multiple locations.

In addition, you will liaise regularly with the Technical Authors about any changes to product documentation and with Developers when any substantial problems are identified. There may be occasions when you will participate in presenting new releases to clients and demonstrating the product's capabilities.

Below is the technical environment and role remit:

* Experience with 2 or more of the following platforms: Windows, Linux, UNIX, IBM i, z/OS
* Experience with 1 or more of the following database technologies: Oracle SQL Server or DB2
* Working knowledge of Java / J2EE
* Scripting experience with 1 of the following: Shell, Perl or Java
* Experience on a helpdesk logging and resolving technical support queries within SLA's
* Liaising with Developers and Technical Authors on issue resolution and documentation

Any knowledge of the following IBM software products would be of interest: Enterprise Content Manager, Optim or Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM).

Whilst absolutely not essential, should you speak German or French this would be of additional benefit.

In return, you will work for a friendly and supportive organisation with a global industry presence, who value and reward talented individuals.

This is a permanent position offering a basic salary of £35-40,000 per annum plus an extensive benefits package.
