Job Description

Solutions Lead / Senior Solutions Architect (WLAN, Mobile Computing, Networking, System Integrations) - Home based - up to £67,000 + £6.3k car allowance + 10% bonus
A market leading, global technical solutions firm, working with enterprise retail and supply chain businesses, is seeking a Solutions Specialist to form an intrinsic part of the solutions process, forming an interface between the customer and internal teams, working in the UK and Europe.

You will be an integral part of the business, working closely with the Senior Managers of the Solutions, Systems Engineering, Management, Delivery and Sales teams. You will help to design and implement solutions, taking a consultative role with the client, helping to guide and advise them on options and potential solutions, whilst also checking that what is coming in is mappable and identifying potential risks and issues and solutions to these.

The solutions delivered will vary in complexity, and your role in that process will also vary, sometimes designing solutions yourself, or sometimes providing support to complex business solutions, depending on the requirement.

The majority of your time in this role will be spent being the "go to" person for their solutions, however you will also play a key part in the bid process and between 10-20% of your time may be spent in the pre-sales process, perhaps supporting sales teams to formulate offers, or discussing requirements with a customer.

There are 6 new solutions to market currently, which afford the business a true market leading position and keeps them at the cutting edge of mobile computing and asset visibility technology within the retail, manufacturing and logistics verticals.

Key to this role is to have very strong networking skills and be able to understand how technology integrates with customer systems physically, logically and intellectually, looking at connectivity. You should have broad knowledge across major networking vendors, but not specific configuration knowledge across all, you should know how to extend a network to accommodate our solutions and be confident configuring a small stand alone network to demonstrate solutions in a customer setting.

That being said, as an individual you must be interested in expanding your skill set beyond that of designing networks and must demonstrate and interest and enthusiasm for designing much bigger whole solutions and being part of the whole end to end solutions process, whilst retaining networking as an integral part of the process and how the solutions will integrate into the customers networks.

Needless to say, you should have impeccable communication skills and be engaging and credible in a customer facing environment, as you will be required to liaise with multiple stakeholders and high end customers.

The successful person will:
- Have a track record of success working in multi-layer enterprise projects.
- Have in depth knowledge of RF fundamentals.
- Have demonstrable experience working in technical areas, implementing solutions such as WLAN, LAN, WAN and VoWLAN.
- A certification such as CCDP or equivalent from vendors such as Juniper or HP Enterprise, would be particularly advantageous.
- Experience delivering mobile computing, asset visibility or RFID solutions would also be particularly advantageous.
- Must have in depth knowledge of wireless communication, protocols and voice.
- Have some awareness of security
- Have worked in a similar technical role within at least one of the following vertical markets: Education, Healthcare, Retail, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Transportation and Logistics, demonstrating strong customer facing experience.

In this role you will manage your own diary and when not on customer/client site visits, you can work from home. There will be a requirement for ad-hoc team meetings (that tend to take place at HQ in Berkshire), but a flexible approach should be taken towards meetings and travel in general. As a rough guide, you may spend 2-3 days travelling to client sites and 80-90% of your role will be UK based.

The starting salary for this role is £57,000 - £67,000, depending on the skills and experience you bring to the role, plus 10% bonus and an additional £6.3k car allowance.
