Job Description

A multinational professional services firm based in the heart of London is looking for an articulate IT Infrastructure Project Manager to join its team on a 4-month contract. This role will begin on Monday, 4th December, so please only apply if you are able to start a new assignment then.

Working closely with the global infrastructure team, you will be responsible for planning an international data centre migration and downsizing project that needs to be completed by the end of Q1, 2018. Excellent communication and influencing skills are prerequisites as is demonstrable expertise in leading complex IT infrastructure projects, including complex data centre migrations.

In order to be suitable for this role of significant responsibility, you MUST be a Prince2 certified Project Manager with proven experience of leading Data Centre migration projects. My client will be downsizing their data centre footprint in Shanghai and relocating the majority of the assets to a brand new data centre in Zurich, Switzerland, with a secondary backup data centre also in Zurich for offsite data replication. A small data centre environment will be left behind in Shanghai to continue to service clients in the Chinese market.

You will liaise with key stakeholders and develop a project plan for the data centre relocation project. Key responsibilities will include:

·Coordinating the identification of assets that will stay in Shanghai and assets that will be moved to Switzerland

·Coordinating with 3rd party specialist removal firms to ensure the safe extraction and relocation of assets out of the Shanghai data centre into Zurich

·Getting new data centre agreements in place in Zurich for primary hosting and data backup

·Working with the technical teams to ensure infrastructure designs/rack elevations are in place for the reduced data centre in Shanghai, and the new data centre in Zurich

·Coordinating with the server, network, storage, security and application teams to commission the new environment, and ensure that the reduced footprint in Shanghai is fully operational

As you will be liaising with international colleagues, including employees in Zurich, German language skills would be advantageous to your application but is by no means essential. Some international travel may well be required but the vast majority of your time will be spent managing the project from an office in Central London.
