The Ashdown Group has been engaged by a growing manufacturer, to help with the recruitment of a stand-alone HR and H&S Advisor to support across the business on all HR and Health and Safety related issues.
This is a standalone and highly visible role within the business, offering the successful candidate a fantastic opportunity to lead and maintain all of the health and safety whilst also supporting the HR BPO to deliver a streamlined and highly efficient HR function.
This hybrid role can be incorporates a mixture of HR and H&S duties with a primary focus on health and safety.
The main health and safety related duties will consist of;
-Conducting risk assessments across the business
-Developing and maintaining the PPE policy
-Creating and monitoring the method statements
-Running employee health and safety inductions
-Regularly carrying out inspections on the emergency lighting and fire alarms
-Leading and carrying out fire drills and assessments
-Maintaining COSHH compliance
-Designing emergency plans
-Reviewing and maintaining health and safety policies
-Revising the appointed first aiders and ensuring they remain up to date
-Organising PAT tests
The HR duties will be delivered alongside the support of an external HR consultancy and incorporate providing HR admin and generalist support to the business including;
-Administrative support on disciplinaries, grievances, maternity and absences
-Supporting with providing training across the business
-Monitoring attendance including holidays and sickness
-Compiling and distributing employment contracts
-Assisting with recruitment and employee inductions
-Maintaining training records
To secure the role you must be:
An experienced Health & Safety professional with some existing commercial experience of HR Support. Experiences gained within a manufacturing, engineering, construction or supply chain environment is particularly advantageous, but not essential to securing the role.
Moving forward, as the business grows, there will be the potential to expand the HR scope of this role.
