Job Description

The Ashdown Group has been engaged by a successful international specialist FMCG food group who are looking for an experienced Customer Technologist with experience of working with large food retailers to work closely with the Customer Technical Manager to deliver the technical agenda.

Building relationships with selected major UK food retailers, you will ensure all tasks and requests are managed efficiently for both individual accounts and across the wider customer base. This role will be intrinsic to the continued positive relationship with the customer and you will ensure you monitor and report on KPIs - ensuring adequate technical provision is given, manage the process into product rejections or complaints, communicate regularly with customer on agreed KPI's, as well as working to improve shelf life and quality of products, work collaboratively to correct quality problems and try and pre-empt issues and communicate them effectively.

In addition, you will work closely with both your customers and the New Product Development Manager to help drive the delivery of NPD projects, by managing the technical activities required to launch; managing the writing of specifications, approving art work, pre-production trials, ensuring that customer requirements are in line with the businesses production capabilities etc.

To be successful in this role you will have gained experience working in a similar capacity, with a customer centric approach and be confident managing relationships with large retailers. A HACCP, auditing, or Food Safety qualification would be advantageous, but not essential to securing the role. However, experience of working in a food technical role is.

There is the need to travel to UK retailer and grower sites as well as ad hoc travel to conferences/events of interest when required.
