Warehouse Assistant
In this role, you will be an integral part of the stores department, reporting directly to the Materials Supervisor. It encompasses a wide range of tasks, both system-based (SWAN) and practical, focused on managing raw materials and assemblies from their initial receipt, through the assembly process, up until they are ready for dispatch.
Responsibilities:
Dispatch: You will be responsible for the careful packing of materials destined for our sub-contractors and the finished products. Additionally, you will play a key role in preparing pallets for shipment to our external customers.
Goods Inwards: This aspect of the role involves receiving parcels, unloading delivery vehicles, and becoming proficient in the use of pump trucks and pallet stacker equipment (training will be provided). You will also be responsible for the unpacking, checking, and counting of materials, along with recording parts in our manufacturing system and issuing planned shortages.
General Stores: Your duties will include transferring goods into stock and relocating items to their designated storage locations. Additionally, you will be involved in the picking of surface mount kits and performing general picking as required. Issuing materials to our internal customers will also be part of your role, whether through stores issue notes or planned kitting lists. You will be responsible for topping up Kanban stock bins and maintaining general housekeeping on a rota system. Lastly, you will be involved in scanning factory paperwork and maintaining archives, as well as participating in the annual stocktake.
Additionally, you will be expected to undertake any other tasks that fall within the reasonable scope of a Stores Assistant.
Experience:
We are seeking a self-motivated and reliable individual with proven experience in a warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will possess a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to adapt to the ever-changing requirements of the role. Experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, coupled with a good level of physical fitness (due to the requirement for heavy lifting), would be highly beneficial.
Competency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word, would be advantageous. Additionally, proficiency in general PC skills, such as scanning and creating PDF documents, will be beneficial. Training on the SWAN manufacturing system will be provided.
Physical Demands:
This role involves a range of physical demands on a daily basis, including extended periods of standing and/or walking (between 8 and 10 hours per shift). You will be required to lift and move products weighing up to 23kg, perform various physical movements (such as bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and stretching) throughout the shift, and demonstrate manual dexterity in both hands and wrists. Climbing and descending a flight of stairs safely will also be a regular part of the role.
