Data Governance Analyst

A rapidly growing green energy technology business is seeking a Data Catalogue and Quality Administrator to work alongside the data management and project implementation teams to configure, integrate, and deploy the new enterprise data catalogue solution. As the adoption of the product grows, the role holder will continue to enhance the capabilities, availability and rulesets. This will provide a business facing bridge between the business and technical data communities. The role holder will provide support for the data catalogue product owner and data owners delivering various catalogue services which enable the stewards and business stakeholders to search, find, steward, trust and understand enterprise data and analytics.

This role will be fully remote/work from home. The role is paying up to £55,000 plus very good benefits.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with Data Manager and senior stakeholders to evolve our vision for data governance
  • Collaborate with business functions to evaluate, assess and recommend robust data governance practices
  • Responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and communicating new data governance documents, policies and practices
  • Responsible for setting up and embedding a Data Governance committee
  • To support the build and embed the deployment of data assets in our Enterprise data governance catalog, including our business glossary, business and technical assets and our catalog
  • To design new data owners and data steward roles in the business
  • To identify and mentor data owners and stewards in their roles to socialise catalogued data asset progress, availability and integrity
  • Support data access controls required
  • Collaborate on and document business cases and POCs for solutions to current issues or future opportunities
  • Managing and tracking data issues and incidents Identifying and driving improvements in data quality Oversee and share best practice training materials to socialise across the business

 

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • At least 3 years working in a Data Governance capacity at a strategic level Experience of Data Governance best practices in medium to large organisations
  • Experience implementing and embedding Enterprise data governance and catalog applications
  • Experience working in Data Quality tools and improvement cycles
  • Experience working in collaborative cross function groups in data projects and activities Self-motivated independent thinker and collaborative team member

Desirables

  • Experience in implementing Enterprise data governance and catalog solutions
  • Experience in Informatica data governance product set would be an advantage
  • Technical skills in Power BI, Excel and/or SQL Experience working in Azure or other Cloud platforms An understanding of modern data architecture and pipelines
  • Experience in engineering and/or manufacturing sectors Other Skills/Abilities Highly self-motivated, cooperative, and collaborative attitude
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to assess impact of design changes prior to implementation Logical understanding of data flow
