About the Charities
Noah’s Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fund – Research into children’s Leukaemia & related infections
Set-up in memory and honour of Noah, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in May 2020 and died in June 2020 at the age of five, Noah's Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fund, by advancing research into less invasive and new treatments, wants to create a world where more children survive leukaemia and related infections because of a compromised immune system.
Established in July 2021 by his parents, the Charity focuses on the underfunded areas of leukaemia research in the areas of paediatric haematology, paediatric oncology and invasive fungal infections attributable to the high infection risk of blood cancer patients. With Noah at the heart of the fund, Noah’s Pink Balloon funds projects which support the future care, diagnosis and treatment of children with blood cancer to help save lives.
Their mission is to raise awareness, develop clinical expertise and help find a cure for leukaemia and related infections through education, research and tailored support. 100% of funds raised will be used for medical research purposes.
The Grace Dear Trust - Mental Health in Young People
The Grace Dear Trust is a mental health charity set up by the Dear family after losing their daughter, and sister, Grace to suicide aged just 27 in February 2017. Their aim is to help save the lives of other young people suffering with mental health issues.
The Grace Dear Trust want to raise awareness amongst school children, giving support to those who need it and preventing others from suffering so long in silence. They do this by funding seminars in schools, where guest speakers help young people understand the importance of mental well‐being. They want to fund counsellors to visit schools, giving young people the help they need promptly and in an environment that isn’t intimidating and create a local network of professionals that young adults can reach out to.
Surplus to Supper - bridging the gap between food waste and food poverty
Surplus to Supper have been active in sourcing and distributing surplus food to those in need and fundraising for local foodbanks and other charities. They provide fresh frozen cooked meals which are distributed to other charities and their ethos is to provide one free meal for charity from each meal sold. There are four strands to the charity:
Food Redistribution - Fresh food that would otherwise have gone to waste is redistributed for free to support local foodbanks, schools, care homes, shelters, clubs, religious organisations and more, collecting and donating on average 10 tonnes of food per week.
Surplus Café - run by a professional chef cooking surplus food. Our ethos is to provide one free meal for charity from each meal sold at the cafe (Buy One Feed One Free).
Surplus Shop - where they provide good quality food which would otherwise go to waste for a mindful donation.
Events - providing good quality surplus food from across the food industry for any occasion. all meals provided by Surplus to Supper are part of their 'Buy One Feed One Free' initiative.
