Wolseley makes accountancy recruitment moveBuilding materials firm Wolseley has completed an accountancy recruitment move, hiring John Martin as its new chief financial officer.

He will take on the role which is soon to be vacated by Steve Webster, who is leaving the company after 15 years.

Rob Marchbank, Wolseley's chief executive officer of Europe and managing director of the UK business, is also stepping down as part of a wider company restructuring.

Mr Martin, who has been working as a partner at UK private equity firm Alchemy Partners, will be charged with supporting the business as it expands.

His other previous roles include working as the chief financial officer at the Travelex Group.

Earlier this month, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation predicted a rush of accountancy recruitment activity in both the public and private sectors.

Bill Haynes, chair of the confederation's accounting and financial services division, told Careers and Jobs audit, risk and finance control positions would be available in particular.
