UK experiencing success in HR researchHuman resources management and public policy has been named as the number one area for interdisciplinary research in the UK.

According to a study conducted by data specialist Elsevier, researchers in the social sciences field demonstrated the highest level of academic strengths when assessed against 220 different criteria.

HR research outperformed data-mining and ecology studies, which were ranked second and third respectively in the poll, reports the Times HE.

The firm reported that of 65,000 HR management and public policy papers published worldwide in the last five years, 26 per cent originated in the UK.

Niels Weertman of Elsevier claimed the results offered insight into what the UK's strengths are, helping policymakers decide which areas to nurture.

Last week, senior HR professional Bhima Rao told the Deccan Herald that HR can use a variety of different techniques to identify and attract desirable new employees.
