Recruiters can help encourage increased hiring activity

Recruiters can help encourage increased hiring...High-end recruiters can play an active role in encouraging further hiring activity in the UK, it has been suggested.

Chris Richards, policy executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation's (REC) Technology Group, claimed there is "a real desire to hear from specialised recruiters" at present.

He said there had been "some positive signs in terms of increasing demand for staff", noting that positive reports in the media can only help to raise the confidence of hirers.

Mr Richards suggested that, given their high level of insight into the state of the jobs market, employment agencies can play a key role in encouraging professional recruitment through the press.

"There is also increasing interest in the type of skills that we will need in the future, which is another area for recruiters at the high-end of the jobs market to feed into," he commented.

Last week, the REC and KPMG reported an increase in both temporary and permanent jobs opportunities in the UK.
