REC welcomes fall in unemployment rateThe latest fall in unemployment represents "good news" for the economy, it has been suggested.

According to the Office for National Statistics, there were 3,000 fewer people out of work between October and December than in the September to November quarter.

This latest improvement in the employment outlook may serve as encouragement for professionals seeking marketing recruitment opportunities and other openings.

Commenting on the official figures, Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, said the figures supported the feedback received from its members.

"Improving employer confidence is resulting in a more positive outlook on hiring intentions over the coming year, but the UK jobs market remains fragile," he added.

According to official figures, 2.46 million people were out of work in the UK during the final quarter of 2009.
