Recruiters are continuing to strive for regulatory compliance as the government steps up enforcement activity, it has been reported.
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) says various inspectorates have been more active in recent month, citing HM Revenue & Customs, the Health and Safety Executive and the UK Borders Agency as notable examples.
With this in mind, the organisation is urging recruitment agencies and businesses in general to ensure they strive for the highest standards possible.
Judith Armatage, director of professional development within the REC's Academy for Business, said inspections should mainly be targeted at "rogue service providers", but all companies should take heed of the warning.
She added: "As well as avoiding potential fines, it is crucial to avoid any reputational damage. Recognised Certificate and Diploma qualification programmes are one of way of raising awareness amongst recruiters."
REC key account manager Richard Charnock recently highlighted the necessity for recruiters to commit to industry standards and meet all regulatory requirements.
