REC Technology highlights increasing demand for IT...Employer demand is increasing for a variety of niche IT skills, according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

The organisation's latest Technology Demand and Supply report indicates that hirers are seeking individuals with SQL, C#, .NET and Linux skills.

According to the REC, demand has risen over the past two quarters as more firms have committed to new infrastructure investment.

Jeff Brooks, chair of REC Technology, said it was positive news that new IT recruitment opportunities are being created.

He commented: "Our members are showing increasing confidence in the sector and many of them are looking to hire more recruiters as a result.

"It is very encouraging to see that companies will still invest in technology to develop their businesses even when there is a tough economic landscape. I look forward to the upturn developing at an even stronger rate in the months ahead."

Last month, e-skills UK reported that the recession has not had severe negative impacts on the IT recruitment industry.
