Qualified people 'best for marketing jobs'

Qualified people 'best for marketing jobs'Firms that want to ensure their money is not going to waste should ensure only professionally-qualified individuals are appointed to marketing jobs, according to one expert.

Susan Lawrance, head of marketing (education) at the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), explained that by doing this, firms will be able to benefit from the skills and knowledge they need during the recession.

She said: "Qualifications are a proof to employers that marketers are committed to their profession, and that professional marketing skills do add more to an organisation?s bottom-line."

However, some working in the sector are yet to realise the value of gaining a qualification, something that could see them miss out on marketing jobs, Ms Lawrance warned.

Recently, a study by Econsultancy and Clash-Media found that 53 per cent of businesses across the UK, the US and Europe increased their marketing budgets over the past 12 months despite the recession.
