Pharmaceutical businesses 'to increase marketing...A new survey has found that pharmaceutical businesses are set to increase spending on web-based marketing over the coming years.

Research by MarketBridge and Pharmaceutical Executive magazine found the majority of firms in the industry are set to increase their internet marketing budgets by up to ten per cent.

People in marketing recruitment may be interested to hear that 32 per cent said they would increase the budgets by between ten and 20 per cent over the next two years.

The report said that pharmaceutical marketers also "plan to fully integrate digital marketing into their overall marketing strategies".

"Digital marketing spend is expected to rise and digital has at least 'some influence' in hiring, as organisations move more towards digital marketing adoption," it added.

Gerry Brown, analyst at Bloor Research, recently wrote on IT-Director.com that increasing numbers of firms will embrace digital marketing in 2009.
