Businesses must not skimp on sales and marketing during the year ahead, according to one expert.
John Dunsmure, managing director of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), explained firms need to do all they can to attract customers in 2009, comments which might interest marketing recruitment staff.
He said: "This is not the time cut back on your sales and marketing, but to really focus on it. Look at your business plan, identify whether you are on the right track or not."
If changes need to be made, then firms should adopt a cautious attitude, he added.
However, it is important to press ahead with any adjustments which are needed, Mr Dunsmure claimed.
It is also important to concentrate on customer service in general, he stated.
Last week, Gerry Brown, associate analyst at Bloor Research, claimed that firms will look to focus on digital marketing during 2009.
Writing for IT-Director.com, he stated that the option offers better value for money than other channels.
