Marketers 'should not ignore Bing'

Marketing News |  21/09/2009
Marketers 'should not ignore Bing'Marketers who focus their search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques on Google could be missing a trick, a new study has suggested.

According to research by Nielsen, Microsoft's Bing is increasing its share of the search engine market at some speed.

Although it remains third in the overall rankings, more than 1.1 billion queries were entered into Bing during August, a 22.1 per cent increase when compared with July.

This saw the search engine expand its market share by 10.7 per cent, up from nine per cent in the preceding month.

For this reason, marketers might want to ensure they are not ignoring the potential benefits of optimising for Bing.

Recently, Robin Wright, president of the communications firm the Engine Group, urged marketers to ensure they are using both old and new technologies to help them get their message across.

He explained that by using TV ads, people can be encouraged to visit web-based promotions.
