Lancashire accountants live to fight another day

The recession has proved to be the toughest in the eight-decade history of Pierce Group, the Lancashire accountancy firm, it has been reported.
But having survived the downturn to celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2010, the firm is now looking to the future with growth in mind.
Chief executive John Green told the Lancashire Telegraph that after a difficult 12 months, the firm is looking for new business clients in east Lancashire.
He said that confidence was gradually returning to the local economy ? potentially good news for professionals seeking accountancy recruitment opportunities.
"Lancashire has some best brands in the world and many 'silent giants' - those leading businesses who prefer to keep their light under a bushel," Mr Green noted.
Last week, the Office for National Statistics reported that the UK provisionally exited recession in the final quarter of 2009.
