KPMG: UK businesses have growth ambitions

Many UK businesses are now looking to formulate growth plans, believing they have negotiated the economic downturn, it has been claimed.
According to Mark Hopton, head of Europe, the Middle-East and Asia middle market for KPMG, many firms are feeling "sheer relief" at having remained in business, and are now increasingly buoyant over their future prospects.
He suggested that in tough times "survival equals success", but this cheer also leads to greater ambition when conditions begin to improve.
Mr Hopton stated: "Many [firms] are now looking towards growth plans, including more than half who plan to develop new products and services, and over a third who are looking to tap into foreign markets."
He added that many companies will be looking to take advantage of the weak pound in exporting overseas during the coming months.
Other Big Four firms, including PricewaterhouseCoopers, have already signalled their intention to conduct accountancy recruitment over the next few months.
