IT job availability 'will continue to increase'Technology-based jobs will dominate the recruitment market over the next few years, it has been claimed.

Andy Green, chair of e-Skills UK's IT and industry board, said both public and private sector organisations will be looking to conduct IT recruitment over the coming months and years.

He told Computer Weekly that professionals with a sound understanding of green technologies will be in particular demand as firms look to become "more innovative and more productive".

The emerging low-carbon and bio-technology sectors will drive demand for IT staff, Mr Green commented.

"Modern economies are driven by skilled people. The UK needs more, many more, of these skilled people," he claimed.

Last week, Adrian Marlowe, chairman of the Association of Recruitment Consultants, claimed that many firms have been seeking additional computing expertise since the end of the recession.

He claimed that banks in particular have been conducting IT recruitment campaigns over the last few months, as they reconfigure their IT systems.
