Inverness data centre plan offers IT recruitment hope

A major IT recruitment campaign will be launched in Scotland if plans for a £20 million computing centre in Inverness are given the go-ahead.
IT services company Alchemy Plus has submitted proposals to Highland Council planners for the development at the city's harbour.
The centre would provide remote data storage and other external IT support for business users, creating around 400 computing jobs in the north of Scotland.
Alchemy Plus chief executive Steve Chisholm told the news provider that the centre would open up "a whole new industry opportunity in the Highlands".
He added: "With the ability to house powerful new high-density computing applications - up to ten times the 'per rack' capacity of most existing UK data centres - and boasting one of the most energy-efficient designs of its time, the centre will be a best-in-class facility."
According to SSL, contractor recruitment in the IT sector should be more stable during 2010 as the UK emerges from recession.
