ICAEW raises gender pay gap concerns in...The gender pay gap has widened for accountants aged over 45, according to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Research conducted by the organisation found that while the gap is reducing for those aged 30 or under, older male professionals are still earning comparatively more than their female counterparts.

ICAEW's Career Benchmarking Study indicated that the average wage for a male chartered accountant aged 45 or over is £98,400 ? 60 per cent more than the £60,000 taken home by their female equivalents.

However, the gap stands at just four per cent among the under 30s, with women earning an average of £47,300 and men earning £49,300.

According to the Office for National Statistics, the gender pay gap fell across all sectors in the UK last year ? dropping to 12.2 per cent from 12.6 per cent.
