Human resources (HR) professionals believe their contribution during the recession has been recognised by their employers.
Writing for Talent Management, Robert Levy said that many HR employees think their value to the company has been heightened, meaning they will be able to play a more central business role this year.
He added that such professionals "are anticipating brighter days ahead" ? with greater employer sentiment potentially leading to further HR recruitment.
Mr Levy commented: "The best news may be that many believe performance during the recession has earned HR respect as a business partner.
"Businesses turned to HR during the recession to help make often difficult decisions about job cuts. It appears this reliance has enhanced HR's value in the eyes of executives and front-line managers."
According to the Ashdown Group Jobs Index, a 20.85 per cent rise in the number of HR vacancies was witnessed during January 2010.
