HR business partners benefit organisations

Human resources partnering can play an important role in fostering business growth, it has been suggested.
According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), HR business partners help understand and communicate the needs of companies and the challenges they face.
As such, the organisation says it is important for partners to improve their skills and grow their knowledge about the organisation they work in.
This can help maximise their individual effectiveness, CIPD added.
Organisational value can be gained when HR teams acquire a greater insight into the future direction of the business, the body claimed.
CIPD added that HR leaders and practitioners need to harness a deep understanding of and engagement with the wider business.
Laura Harrison, head of strategic development at the organisation, said businesses need to develop and maintain a competitive edge to succeed.
This is particularly the case in challenging economic times, such as those being experienced at present, she noted.
"Effective HR practitioners can help to achieve this through a deep responsibility for, awareness of and engagement with business issues," Ms Harrison commented.
She said the foundations of business savvy interconnect to form a strong, impactful HR function, and this can make a real difference to modern organisations.
CIPD recently called on the government to use its position and influence to encourage UK businesses to recognise and rectify gaps in management and leadership skills.
The HR body said that MPs need to move beyond the uncoordinated and ineffective policy reviews undertaken during the past two decades and address the UK's lagging skills profile.
It suggested that, despite the evidence that good management skills are a crucial driver of growth, improvements have been too slow.
