Final year university students think careers in the financial services sector offer great opportunity for progression, it has been reported.
A new study conducted by ICM Research indicates that City jobs are desirable to undergraduates with a burning ambition to succeed, reports the BBC.
The report indicated that medical and Civil Service jobs are also highly rated in terms of career progression.
However, the survey respondents said they see journalism, teaching and human resources careers offering few opportunities.
With Big Four firm KPMG recently reporting an increase in accountancy recruitment activity in the UK, job vacancies in the financial services sector are likely to remain hotly contested.
Jobseekers will hope that with the banking crisis over and the economy restored to growth, City employers will be encouraged to recruit new staff.
