A new tool has been developed to help marketers understand the relationship between Facebook and other online channels.
Omniture has unveiled its App Measurement for Facebook tool, which aims to show how users engage with applications and provide an insight into traffic from the social network and its relationship with web, mobile and video.
According to the developers, the tool can help to create more "data-driven social media marketing decisions".
Brett Error, executive vice-president at Omniture, said: "With more than 200 million active users, marketers are intrigued by the potential of Facebook to help them connect with consumers in personalised and meaningful ways.
"Yet the relatively young phenomenon of social media has forced marketers to rely on experimentation to tap into that potential."
Recent research by MessageLabs claimed that spam accounted for 90 per cent of all email during May.
The study also claimed that firms are facing new sophisticated attacks from hackers as cybercriminals are able to bypass systems designed to stop automated programmes registering for online services, and creating webmail and social networking accounts.
