Demand for IT workers will remain high despite the current economic downturn, according to one expert.
Writing for the Wall Street Journal, Sarah E Needleman explained that computer skills are seen as vital by firms, news which might interest IT recruitment staff.
She also suggested IT workers might want to look at the healthcare and education, as there should still be roles on offer in the two sectors.
"Hospitals and schools need professionals in an array of business areas, including management, finance, communications, information technology and administrative services," Ms Needleman said.
Figures from Kaiser Permanente, a US non-profit healthcare firm, show that around one-third of vacancies in the sector are not directly related to medical positions.
Recently, a study by the IT Job Board found that 72 per cent of respondents expect the skills gap in the industry to continue growing on a yearly basis.
The research also found that a lack of qualified workers and a rapidly changing industry are seen as the biggest causes of the problem.
