Deloitte gears up for accountancy recruitment

Big Four giant Deloitte will be conducting accountancy recruitment during 2010, it has confirmed.
Speaking to eFinancial Careers, James Baird, senior partner for Scotland and Northern Ireland, said the company would be making "targeted hires" over the course of the year.
He said that Deloitte was seeing an improvement in the transactional areas of its business, meaning additional professionals will be needed to support client activity.
"We also expect to be making targeted hires within banking and asset management, enterprise risk services, technical advice, audit and internal audit and risk management," Mr Baird commented.
He said there will be "a controlled expansion" within the company, with Deloitte seeking partner and director hires "as well as lower down".
"I think what we will see is expansion in key growth areas rather than general expansion across the board," Mr Baird added.
Last week, rival firm KPMG announced plans to hire new accountants at its offices in Manchester, Liverpool and Preston.
