Cloud hosting helps keep IT costs down

Businesses can keep their IT costs down by embracing cloud hosting, an expert has suggested.
According to technology commentator Sean Schofield, the pay-as-you-use model can enable firms to keep on top of their IT expenditure.
Writing for Practical Ecommerce, he suggested that such plans offer "a very economical way to host a server" as firms are only charged for the capacity they use.
Outsourcing a variety of IT tasks to a third party provider can also free up IT professionals, allowing them to use their time more effectively, he suggested.
Mr Schofield stated: "Think of these offerings as a utility: You pay for what you use. So if your bandwidth is low one month, you pay less.
"You can also rent these servers by the minute, so if you have a short term need for a server."
Launchpad Europe recently claimed that security issues often influence whether or not organisations choose to adopt cloud technologies.
