Employers are predicting an improvement in the graduate employment market over the coming year, it has been reported.
According to research conducted by the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR), firms have forecast a 1.6 per cent decline in vacancies during 2010, compared to cuts of 8.9 per cent last year.
Some 51 per cent of organisations expect to have more vacancies this year than last, with only 31 per cent believing they will have fewer positions to advertise.
The report indicated that accountancy recruitment has been the least affected area over the last 12 months, while oil companies are set to be the biggest individual hirers.
Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the AGR, said the graduate employment market is beginning to normalise and begin the process of recovery.
He suggested that vacancy figures are "starting to turn the corner".
According to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG, an overall rise in both permanent and temporary employment roles was witnessed last month.
