PHP Developer (Junior)

This Technology start up is already drawing plaudits from newspapers and trade press around the world. Backed by a wealthy VC, they are urgently looking to recruit a Junior PHP Back-End Developer.

A suitable candidate will consider themselves a craftsman rather than a technician, taking great care down to the smallest of details, therefore having pride in every feature that you implement. You will have good knowledge of PHP and MySQL, and ensure the back-end code is flexible, efficient and well tested to ensure continued growth of the business. Also, you must be familiar with working on web applications within a team environment and have a proven track record of working on commercial web applications. When faced with limitations and strict requirements, you will go the extra mile to engineer intelligent workaround solutions that are the envy of your peers.

Ideally, a successful candidate will have an appreciation of the MVC pattern and have some experience of working with a large scale bespoke and/or framework-based PHP application which adheres to this pattern. Some knowledge of Javascript including jQuery and Prototype is desired, and to be familiar with source control, testing procedures and code quality. Also, the ability to explain and rationalise decisions whilst always seeking to improve.

Skills that will be advantageous are: Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
