  • The Ashdown Group are working on behalf of Adoption UK to find an Online Manager for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. Adoption UK was established in 1971 and is the only national self-help charity run by and for adoptive parents and foster carers - offering support before, during and after adoption.

    This is a wonderful opportunity to bring your social media management skills to a very worthwhile organisation. In order to be suitable for this vacancy, you will have experience of full website management. This post will require you to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of Adoption UK’s existing website, which will include leading and managing a small online team, updating existing content, creating new content, and website activity analysis.

    You will be required to manage and develop the organisation’s social media presence – updating Adoption UK’s Twitter feed on a daily basis, managing the organisation’s Facebook page, and implementing further strategic use of both communication channels. You will take responsibility for promoting Adoption UK, driving online traffic and delivering on organisational objectives.

    This role will require you to work with the Communications Team and other organisational departments to create regular news stories, special features and other online information. Strong copy writing skills are essential. You will also be required to moderate content uploaded by followers - to Adoption UK’s social media channels and answer questions/queries posted by followers.

    You will be responsible for training staff members on the basic features and functions of Twitter and Facebook and will advise on the organisation’s social media policy and strategy. In addition, you will be required to produce management reports (including Google Analytics) outlining online activity – for the management team and Board of Trustees.

    Essential skills and Experience:

    Strong website and Social media background
    Familiarity with content management systems and basic HTML coding
    Proven editorial skills, including proof reading

    This role is largely office based, but will involve some travel within the UK for the purpose of attending events, meetings and training.
