Developer Analyst

My client is a leading and highly respected trading business with impressive London based premises. They are currently looking to hire a Front Office Developer to join an established and highly respected technical support and development team operating on the trading floor. Suitable candidates will have specific experience of working in a commodities trading environment and will be familiar with nomination tools, scheduling tools, Decision Management / Decision Support applications or other similar tools.

The role is predominantly development oriented, but some of the development activity will arise from systems issues being reported from the trading floor. You will need to be comfortable dealing directly with the user base (traders) and have an analytical mind that will lead you naturally to investigate the root causes of problems that arise.

Your technical skills will need to include comprehensive Excel and VBA skills and extensive knowledge of PL/SQL and Oracle databases. The role will involve you in extracting data from a variety of complex data sources and manipulating the data or representing it in a readily accessible format. The service layer is Java based, so a solid knowledge of Java is essential, as is a broad, general understanding of web technologies, ideally including HTML, ASP and XML.
Please note, this is a minimum 6 month contract and is highly likely to extend to a full 12 months.
