Data Centre Engineer

A highly successful International Technology company is looking to expand their technical team at their Manchester offices.

Working in a high availability data storage and connectivity environment this is operation 24/7 so you will be expected to work shifts along with the rest of the team on a rota basis. You will have regular interaction with clients so excellent communication and organisation skills are essential.

The overall remit of the role is to provide Coaxial/copper/fibre structured cabling installations and IT installations within a complex technical environment.

It requires a strong understanding of internet technologies, the ability to provide, clear, professional and timely customer support and troubleshooting and the ability to work on multiple customer project implementations.

The position will include all of the below elements

• Carry out customer rack & suite builds according to specification

• Install customers equipment & cable installations according to specification

• Install & test electrical feeds to customers & carry out monthly power readings

• Monitor & maintain LAN extension service between sites

• Receive requests from customers to check & diagnose equipment & connectivity

• Work closely with customers to implement solutions

• Carry out media/back up tape changes

• Monitor & check plant & equipment & escalate problems to ensure continued provision of service

This role would be a good match for an experienced candidate with solid electrical engineering, Networking and/or storage skills looking to join a growing team.
