Application Support/Development Engineer with SQL skills

  • A successful Service Provider based in Edinburgh is looking to recruit an experienced Application Support/Development Engineer into their established support team. This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that has an established client base across multiple industries.

    Working within a small team of support professionals you will be tasked with providing technical application support AND development with regards to all current applications. You will follow-up on issues escalated by 1st line support and conduct root cause analysis.

    You will be working closely with the IT Manager on software upgrades and roll-outs, and when necessary create and extract reports in Crystal Reports. You will be working on application configuration and support of my client’s bespoke financial application.

    You must have proven track record of writing scripts in SQL and good working knowledge of SQL Server with strong experience of BI tools and development.

    To be considered for this role you should ideally be a Graduate or Junior Software Engineer preferably with 3-4 years of commercial experience in a similar technical software support role or in a consulting role in a large client organization and you will need to hold a degree in Computer Science or a related subject.

    You must have deep technical knowledge of development and coding using common languages such as Java, PHP or .Net. You must know how to configure servers, and have a good understanding of fundamental IT infrastructures and coding.
