Charity Tips

21. Arrange a night out – many restaurants would love to have a full restaurant in the evening mid week, why not try approaching your favourite restaurant and set up a set meal with a fixed price, a proportion of the meal price goes to charity.

22. When you are really struggling for funds, most charities will give you collection cans, with the right ID and a can, you could hit the pubs on a Friday night. If you do this, it may be sensible to travel in numbers.

23. Approach other local businesses. Possible ways for local businesses to support you are gifts for raffles or direct sponsorship. If the gift does not cost the business anything or has minimum impact on their profits, they are more likely to want to become involved. For example during our wine tasting night, Pret a Manger and a number of other sandwich shops gave us their salads, cakes and sandwiches at the end of the day. These were then eaten as nibbles and we were able to push the wine tasting ticket price up.

24. If you have regular gym users at work, why not ask them to approach the gym using the same poster idea as at reception? We received a very positive response from the gyms we use, as they were keen to promote healthy activities. If you are brave enough, this activity can be promoted within the gym by wearing a charity t-shirt or training vest and a picture of you or the team on the promotional poster.

25. Try and maintain fundraising momentum, have regular meetings to keep everyone engaged if participating in a group and try and enjoy yourself. You are unselfishly raising money for others and should be proud of everything you achieve.
